A Practical Way To Reclaim True Liberty For Your Life

I knew what I was about to do was illegal. But I didn’t care...

I was at the lowest point in my life.

 

I was months behind on rent. My car would have been repossessed if they could find me.

 

I had $21,000 in credit card debt that I couldn’t even make minimum payments on because my bank account was overdrawn.

 

And I had absolutely no idea where my next meal was coming from, much less my next paycheck.

 

So I was feeling more than a little reckless.

 

Here’s what I did.

 

I pulled out my wallet and removed the very last dollar I had. And I defaced it with a sharpie.

 

Here’s that dollar.

In case you can’t read it, it says “My last dollar.” It’s dated December 10th, 2009.

 

This dollar has been sitting on my desk ever since.

 

It’s a reminder of where I’ve been and how far I’ve come.

 

See, these days I’m just about as free as any human can be.

 

I have a fully paid off house on 15 acres in the mountains. I have no debt that I couldn’t get rid of tomorrow.

 

And I never have to worry about getting canceled if I decide to post an opinion on social media.

 

I work if and when I want.

 

I can pick up and leave for a week-long vacation pretty much whenever I want.

 

And I don’t ever consider what people I don’t like (and who don’t like me) think of me for even a minute.

 

Now, I worry plenty about the erosion of civil liberties and tech censorship.

 

And if I had my way, I’d radically alter the way our government functions.

 

But at the end of the day, I’m just about as free as a man can be in today’s world.

 

Now let me ask you a question…

How to make all the money you need

to fully enjoy your freedom

 

Because, by far, the number one thing you absolutely must do is take FULL control over your income and wealth.

 

Unless you inherited a Scrooge McDuck swimming pool full of gold…

Or you’re a savant at investing…

 

There are really only two ways to do this.

 

The first is entrepreneurship.

 

The opportunity for Entrepreneurs is better today than it’s ever been in history.  

 

The Internet has opened up opportunities that no-one could have dreamed of just a couple decades ago.

 

But, despite the myriad of "online programs" promising to make you a six or seven figure income in just minutes a day…  

 

Starting your own business is HARD. And it comes with huge risks. 

 

To be successful, you need:

 

  • A unique and good idea.
  • Experience with logistics and planning
  • A proven marketing and sales plan
  • The ability to hire and fire
  • Good (ie expensive) lawyers and accountants
  • Often licensing and permits


And no matter what, you either have to invest a ton of time or a ton of money. Usually both.

 

Now look, I fully support the entrepreneurial spirit. If you have a great business idea and the drive to make it a reality, I encourage you to launch it. You could change the world.

 

But there’s no “easy” way to get a business off the ground.

 

And if it doesn’t work, you’re not just back to square one.

 

You’ve often lost your money, investors’ money, and potentially built up a pile of debt and enemies.  

 

That’s why, especially for folks without a ton of business or entrepreneurial experience, I recommend door #2.    

Freelancing

Freelancers are guns for hire on the open market.

They work when they want, for whom they want, and at whatever price they can get their clients to agree to pay them.

With freelancing you have far less career risk than entrepreneurs.

 

In fact, you even have less career risk than traditional employees. (That may be hard to believe, but I’ll prove it to you with simple math in a second).

 

As a freelancer, you get to work from anywhere in the world. You get to work on your own schedule.


And if you know what you’re doing…

  • It’s normal to top $100,000 a year…
  • $100,000 to $300,000 is not at all unusual…
  • And if you have the right game plan, $300,000 to over $1 million a year is possible...

Even without any extraordinary idea, talent, or luck.

 

It doesn’t matter if your 18 or 80…

 

It doesn’t matter if you’re white, black, or green… man or woman… city slicker or country bumpkin…  

 

You could jump several income brackets and live a freer, more fulfilling life as a freelancer…

 

If you know how to play the game.

 

And no matter what industry you're in (or want to work in) currently...

Here’s the reason you need to seriously consider freelancing right now.

 

As of 2022, freelancers made up 36% of the workforce.

 

By the year 2027 – just around the corner – that number will cross 50%.

That means there are projected  to be over 86 million freelancers in the United States alone.

And once we cross that threshold…

 

Once everyone knows a freelancer who’s making more money…

 

And working on their own schedule…

 

Once companies experience the benefits of using freelancers instead of full-time employees…

 

Nobody is going to want an old-school, traditional job.

 

And no employers are going to want to hold on to “dead weight” employees.

 

The market forces on both sides are lined up to prefer freelancers.  

 

However, very few people realize this right now.

 

Which means there’s a window of opportunity where you can get in ahead of the curve and become wealthier and more free than you ever imagined.

 

Who am I to tell you all this?

Well like I said, my name is Henry Bingaman.  

 

When I defaced that dollar, I was just about 2 years into my career as a freelance writer.

 

And I was feeling extremely dumb.  

 

See, I grew up in one of the poorest cities in America. I was mugged, threatened, and picked on my whole life.

 

For example, the first time I had a knife held to my throat, I was 11 years old.

 

And while we weren’t the poorest family in the city by any stretch of the imagination… we didn’t have a budget for a lot of luxuries or vacations.

 

I hated the lack of options and opportunity.

 

So as soon as I was old enough, I got outta dodge.  

I was an adult.

 

I was going make my way in the free world of adults with nobody telling me what to do anymore.  

 

Then I got my first “real job.”

And life got worse.

 

I had to wear a stiff and uncomfortable suit and tie…

 

Pretend to respect my bosses (who I thought were idiots)…

 

And the company rule was “on time is late.” But I still only got paid for "on time."

 

It was just as miserable as being a dead-broke kid in a run-down city.

Only, it was worse, because now I didn’t have anyone one else to blame.

 

However, I had always been a decent writer, so I figured I’d try my hand at freelance writing.

 

It went pretty well… for about a month.

 

Then it stopped going well.

 

This was the middle of the Great Recession. Clients dried up. Promising leads went away. And nobody had a budget for writers any more.

 

Shortly after that is when I maxed out my credit cards and stopped making car payments.

 

That dollar I showed you... it was kind of like a contract with myself.

 

I was never going to spend my last dollar. And I was going to do whatever it took to figure out how to make this freelance thing work.

 

Because if I could make it work – the freelance life was everything I ever wanted.

 

Now, at that time, I made a big mistake.

Because, mostly, I just tried to become the best writer I could. I studied and practiced for 8-12 hours a day. I bought every copywriting course I could get my hands on.  

 

Yet, it barely moved the needle.

Then I made one key observation and a few subtle changes.

 

The next year, I was making $100,000 a year.

 

A couple years later I was making $200,000... Then $500,000... Then $700,000.

 

Then, at my peak, I made over $1.4 million dollars in a single year.

 

Today I’m known as one of the top copywriters in the world.

 

I’ve sold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of products for clients like Money Map Press, NewsMax, and Natural Health Sherpa.

 

I’m honored to call a lot of today’s top marketers, friends. And I occasionally work or pal around with celebrities.

Now here’s the crazy thing…

 

I am not the best writer or marketer. I’m not the most creative guy in the space.

 

I don’t have some undeniable talent that “destined” me for a million-dollar income.

 

My real secret was that one observation I made early on in my career.

 

Here it is:

 

There were some freelancers who were making a boatload of money who were not exceptionally skilled in any way I could see.

 

Then there were some truly outstanding freelancers who were just scraping by.

 

At first, that didn’t make any sense to me.

 

The more skilled individual SHOULD be making more money.

 

That’s how a meritocracy works.

 

Unfortunately, it’s not quite so simple.

 

There are a lot of reasons that a less talented freelancer might get paid more.

 

  • They could have a broader set of skills.
  • They could be better at selling themselves.
  • They could be better at making clients happy.
  • They could handle emergencies better.
  • They could seem safer.
  • They could know how to negotiate better.
  • It could even be as simple as they’re just more likeable.

 

All of those things are skills that are NOT directly related to the thing a freelancers sells…

 

But they’re far more important to dictating how much money you make than just being the “best” freelance… designer, engineer, writer, coder, analyst, or whatever other “skill” you happen to have.

 

In other words, freelancing itself is a skill.

 

And it’s the most important skill in determining how much you enjoy your career and how well you get paid.

 

When I focused in on developing the skill of freelancing in addition to my skills at writing…

 

That started the journey that got my income all the way up to a peak of $1.4 million.

 

Then 2020 happened, and the whole world went mad.

 

I was making incredible money, but so many of my friends and acquaintances were devestated.

 

Employed friends lost jobs – entrepreneur friends had businesses shut down. Millions of people’s freedom were snatched away from them.

 

And it drove me crazy.

 

So I put my freelance career on pause.

 

I launched my podcast, Practical Liberty and this business to help make sure people who see the world like me never have to be put in that situation again.

 

Today, I focus on helping folks make progress in what I call The Four Cornerstones of Liberty.

This Is My Freedom Formula

Security

You need to be able to protect yourself, your belongings, and your family without any significant government help.

Privacy is a major factor here. Can you be tracked online by governments or criminals?

Wealth

You don’t need a vault full of gold or a billion dollar inheritance. But money is an big factor in modern survival.

 

The important thing here isn’t having wealth. It’s being adaptable enough to earn a high income in a variety of situations.

 

Can you make money in a depression? Can you earn a living without compromising everything you believe in This is going to be a key survival skill in the coming years.

Awareness

You need to be able to cut through the mounds of BS and “disinformation” and frankly marketing material - to figure out what’s true.

 

With the emergence of AI and deepfakes, this is going to be a lot less straightforward than it used to be – and it was never straightforward.

Network

You’ll need to be able to build communities and find groups of people who share your values.

And you need to develop skills that can make you a significant part of that community.

It pays to be self-reliant. But nobody can survive entirely on their own.

If you nail down all four of those areas, you will be a lot freer and a lot happier.

 

And the one area where I can have the biggest impact in directly teaching you – is wealth.

 

I believe, for the majority of people, freelancing is the best path to wealth.

 

And look, if you taking nothing else away from this letter, I want you to remember this:

 

The Math Proves That Freelancing Is The Future

Think about it from the freelancers side.

 

Let’s say you’re a moderately talented freelancer. You have 4 main clients that all pay you around $2,500 a month. (That’s not too hard to achieve, even in your first few years of freelancing)

 

That’s $120,000 a year.

 

Now let’s say one of your clients has an extremely bad year and their sales drop by 40%. By no fault of your own, they have to drastically cut their budget.

 

Unfortunately, you’re on the chopping block.

 

That’s no fun at all, but your income has only dropped by 25%.

If nothing else changes, you're still making $90,000 a year.

 

And you’ll more than likely replace that and get right back to where you were in the next few weeks.

 

Now let’s say you’re an employee with a $120,000 salary.

 

You’re a HUGE line-item on your employer's budget. It’s not just your salary.

 

It’s the additional $25,000-$50,000 in government mandated benefits they MUST pay you.  

 

If that company’s revenue goes down, “downsizing” is inevitable.  

 

And if you get fired, you’re at $0 in income.

 

The math is simple

 

If you’re an employee, you’re always at risk of losing everything.

 

As a freelancer with multiple clients, it’s much more difficult to lose everything all at once.

 

Plus, the typical high income employee pays 37% of their income in taxes. It just disappears – poof –it never comes back.

 

But freelancers very often pay more like a 10-20% effective tax rate.

 

So not only do freelancers make more money on average, they pay FAR less in taxes. (I’ll show you how in a minute).

 

Now let’s look at it from the employer side.

 

It’s just a simple fact that employees are expensive.  

 

All in, they have to pay as much as $170,000 for a $120,000 employee? It’s infuriating.  

 

Then if the company does end up having to fire an employee for any reason, they have to hold their breath and wait to see if they sued for discrimination.

 

They have none of those headaches with freelancers.

 

So it's a no-brainer to hire a freelancer over an employee.

Clients are happy to pay you a higher wage while you’re working because they’re saving so much on benefits…

 

On top of that you’re more likely to be a self-motivated and self-directed person…

 

And there’s way less risk if they ever feel like they need to stop working with you.

 

It’s a win-win arraignment.

 

And more and more companies are waking up to this fact.

 

Which is why freelancing is absolutely exploding right now.

 

And that’s good news for you – if you’re a hard worker and you want to get paid what you’re worth.

 

This is the clearest path to a more free future that I can see right now.

All freelancers want clients. Which makes sense because clients are how you get money.

 

But there’s a big difference between ELF clients and HACK clients.

 

ELF stands for easy, lucrative, and fun.

 

These clients appreciate your work. They give you autonomy on projects assuming that you, as the expert, know the best way to do the job. And they pay you what you’re worth.

 

HACK clients are the opposite. They’re Hard, Annoying, Cheap, Know-it-alls.

 

These are clients who think because they’re paying you, you should be at their beck and call. They don’t value you work and want to get “their money’s worth.” And they want to tell you exactly how to do your job.  

 

Now, a lot of freelancers take on HACK clients because they need to pay the bills. Then they’re constantly stressed and always chasing down clients to actually pay their invoices.

 

That’s not what the freelance life should be like.

 

Luckily, you don’t have to settle for HACKs.  

 

This module is all about landing “your perfect client.”

 

So I show you how to land ELF client who value you and your work.

 

These are the clients who could pay you hundreds of thousands - or in extraordinary circumstances - millions of dollars over the course of your relationship.

How To Legally Save Thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of Dollars on Your Taxes

 

There is almost nothing I hate more than freely and fairly earning money…

Seriously, even if you don’t agree that taxation is theft… do you really think the federal government has a better sense of what to do with your money than you?

 

Well, you’re in luck. One of the primary benefits of freelancing is that you get to pay a WAY lower effective tax rate than most employees.

 

But you have to be careful. It doesn’t matter how much I hate the IRS, they can make your life hell.

 

And I have no interest in running headfirst into their buzz-saw.

 

Luckily, you don’t have to take much risk at all to save thousands… or tens of thousands… or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes.

 

You just have to know the game and play by the rules.

Not the rules they tell you, by the way. Those are for the NPCs who would never think of objecting.

I'm talking about the rules in the fine print.  

 

So in this bonus module, I hired Tax Lawyer Matthew Sercely to teach freelancers how to pay as little in taxes as you legally can.

Here’s the big secret. The US tax code is 26,000 pages long.

That means if you read a page a day, it would take you over 71 years to get through it.

But only about 1% of that tax code says what taxes you DO have to pay. The other 99% is all the ways you can get OUT of paying taxes.

 

And Matthew is an expert in saving freelancers and small business owners a boatload on taxes.

"Can I freelance in my current industry/job?"

The answer really depends on your current industry or job. If you’re a public school teacher, or an elected politician, or a spy for the CIA, you’re probably not going to be able to go freelance and keep doing the exact work you’re currently doing.

But, you probably do have skills that could be extremely valuable in a freelance career. That’s why the first module of Breaking Free walks you through an exercise that helps you discover your unique skills and package them in a way that clients will want to hire you.

On the other hand, if your currently employed in marketing or coding or design or engineering or law, there’s a chance you could go freelance and do almost exactly what you’re doing now in the early stages.

"Am I too old/young to start a freelance career?"

I don’t think my 4-year-old is quite ready for a freelance career yet. Also, I think my 100-year old grandmother might have missed her window of opportunity.
